KOCHI: The Police and Residents' Associations' Initiative in District Ernakulam (PRIDE) will take up fight against drug abuse in the city as the key result area for the next year. This was decided at a meeting between representatives of the Ernakulam District Residents Associations Apex Council (EDRAAC) and City Police Commissioner P. Vijayan here on Saturday. The decision will be announced at the second anniversary meeting of PRIDE, scheduled for mid-September. Strategies to check the sale and use of narcotics will be finalised at the meeting. Discussions on other public safety issues will also be held, said S. Surendran, Assistant Commissioner of Police. PRIDE has steadied itself and communications between residents' associations and the police have been streamlined. Hence, it is now time to take up specific themes.
